Description
This view supports the ability to register unique named places and optionally, to specify the capability for delivering health services.
An interaction that communicates that a delivery site is being registered with an associated EHRi registry.
Rationale
It is important to distinguish where services are provided from the organization responsible for providing the service. Current identification strategies mix these concepts. As the health system continues to rapidly evolve, it will become increasingly important to be able to associate service delivery with the resources available at the delivery location. This information model view supports the flexibility to manage change in capability and capacity as well as new delivery modes.
Implementation Considerations
Business Processes do not yet exist to implement the concepts expressed in this model view. The Location Registry Program is intended to address this subject area. The probability is that only some locations will be registered initially, especially those that are associated with specialized services used across jurisdictions. Delivery Sites such as residents and scenes may not be registered uniquely, but may be recorded by type.
