Description

This EHR Interoperability Profile describes the EHR Communication Steps (EHR_CS) for an EHR user / system to update a patient’s consent directives related to client’s information in the EHR Shared Care Record domain repository. This process includes the following high-level system interactions with the EHRi registries and repositories

• Client Registry – confirms the supplied patient’s unique identifier exists and is valid
• Repository Locator – finds the location of the Consent Repository where this patient's consent information is maintained
• Consent Directives Repository – is updated with the patient’s consent directives for the EHR

The business rules to maintain a patient’s consent directives in the Consent Directives Repository will vary between jurisdictions, the privacy policies that apply and the type of consent process model in use.

Consent directives for a patient may also be maintained for the different EHRi domain repositories (EHR, Lab, Drug, DI). The Consent Management Services are responsible for managing the business rules to determine the consent rules to be applied to a patient’s data during a POS System interaction with the EHRi. Preconditions

• The user is already authenticated and authorized and logged into the EHRi System and has identified the patient to modify their consent directives
• The location id of the service delivery organization and the provider id who initiated this process have already been established.
