Description

This EHR Interoperability Profile describes the EHR Communication Steps (EHR_CS) for an EHR user / system to create a new patient within the Client Registry. This process includes the following interactions with the EHRi registries and repositories

Client Registry
- Determine patient does not exist
- Create new patient using core demographic information
- Synchronizes new patient client registry information with participating client registries in other jurisdictions.

EHRi System

The system that contains the jurisdictional EHR for this patient.

Preconditions

The patient does not exist in the Client Registry for the current jurisdiction
The EHR user / system is already authenticated and authorized to access the EHRi System and has collected the patient information to add to the Client Registry.
The service location id and the provider id that requested this process have been established in previous interactions

Process Steps

User has selected the desired patient and proceeds with the following steps.

User requests to add a new patient to the Client Registry	POS System sends a notification to the EHRi System specifying the provider identity, and the Client Registry Information to be created.	EHRCS11_Put_New_Client_Registry _Patient
		The EHRi System IIP Put workflow: Determines the patient does not exist in the Client Registry Creates new patient in the Client Registry with a unique EHR Client ID (eCID) Synchronizes new patient client registry information with participating client registries in other jurisdictions. Returns the eCID to the POS System
	The POS System receives a response from the EHRi System with the status of the Communication Step interaction	(response)
