EHR IP Summary

Description

This EHR Interoperability Profile describes the process for an EHRi Domain Repository System (e.g. Drug, DI, Lab, Public Health) to create an entry in the EHR Index for a patient clinical event recorded in EHRi Data Domain Repositories other than the EHR Shared Care Record domain repositories. The indexing of EHR Shared Care Record domain information is included in the EHRIP15 Put Event services that record that information.

This service is to allow domain specific systems such as Lab, DI, Drug, Public Health to record patient data as part of their normal business process in separate repositories and in addition create an entry in the EHR index to record the patient, the type and location of where the information is stored. This will allow users in subsequent interactions with the EHRi System, to search the EHR Index for patient information located in different EHR domain repositories.

The EHRi system will create a unique entry in the EHR Index for each newly created domain specific Event using attributes derived from Index Event payload information as well as already established user and location identifiers.

It is important to note that this service is invoked after the patient information has been recorded in a domain specific repository.

Actors

This EHR IP includes interactions between the following actors:

Actor	Description
EHRi Domain Repository system	The jurisdictional system that recorded the patient Event to be indexed in the EHR Index
EHRi system	The system that contains the jurisdictional EHR Index.

Preconditions

The client id has been resolved with the Client Registry
An EHRi jurisdictional system has recorded a clinical event for a patient that will also need an entry created in the EHR Index
The jurisdictional system is already authenticated and authorized to access the EHRi system and has identified the Event to be recorded in the EHR Index
The service location id and the provider id that requested this process have been established in previous interactions

Process Steps

User has selected the desired patient and proceeds with the following steps.
