Error correction (11.1.3) Storyboard: Strep Throat (11.1)
Gareth Lambert has been unwell recently and the physician on call over the weekend, Dr. White, had to prescribe him an antibiotic. In the process, Dr. White realized there was an error in Gareth and Tim’s EHR. She sent an email to notify Dr. Black, their family physician.
Dr. Black checks his email on Monday morning and sees the message from Dr. White regarding the error in the records for Tim and Gareth Lambert. He identifies Gareth’s records that have been erroneously saved to Tim and asks the clinic receptionist to make the appropriate changes to reflect the actual past events. She puts a copy of the record in Gareth’s EMR and changes the status of it to obsolete in Tim’s.
Assumptions
· Able to mark a record in EHR as error and/or make changes (e.g. unmerge, untangle) to record
This health service follows upon the on call encounter (see 11.1.1) and pharmacy visit (see 11.1.2), and describes all the health service events taken during the correction of an allergy event, in the jurisdiction where the involved patient lives.
Each health service event takes place during a same period of time (e.g. without cut of time), in presence or not of involved client; the health service events can be grouped in a health service encounter.
