The physician talks with patient about the recent developments.

The patient feels she is doing very well, much better than before. She is extremely talkative and jumps quickly between ideas.

The physician is concerned about the change and wonders if this is a manic episode and if patient’s diagnosis is actually bipolar affective disorder.

The patient would very much like the input of a psychiatrist but there are none in her very remote rural area.

The physician, therefore, makes a referral for a psychiatric Telehealth consultation.

The physician asks her clinic nurse to arrange for the appointment.
