Definition
An observation that a birth has occurred. Not to be confused with the obstetrical health service event of delivery. A record that a birth occurred is often a sub-event of an encounter. A birth event may be considered a trigger event to create a new person record as well as to record the particulars of the birth on a formal birth document.
