Alerts are parameters that a user can specify to control a system or agent’s behaviour. When an alert condition trips, the service will notify the user. This service ties into and works very closely with the Publish/subscribe service described below. An example of an alert could be “Alert me if the blood test result is outside the normal range”. The notification service could then email the ordering physician with the result along with other relevant information.
