Message EHRCS15_Put_Event

Communication Step Summary

Description:

This EHR Communication Step will use client and provider identifying information to put (record) a patient clinical Event into the EHR Repository.

Example types of events that are recorded in the EHR Shared Care Record domain repository are:

Put Event uses the “Focal Act” of an HL7 v3 message as the primary container of patient information to be recorded as an Event in the EHRi system and indexed in the EHR Index.

An Event’s “Focal Act” may have Act Relationships with other Acts (sub-events) with more details about the Event. This communication steps records both the main event and any associated sub-events as one logical unit in the EHRi system.

The EHRi system will create a unique entry in the EHR Index for each newly created Event using attributes derived from Put Event payload information as well as already established user and location identifiers. (See EHRCS18 Index Event)

This communication step will only create instances of replicated clinical data and EHR Index entries for Events that are recorded in the EHR Shared Care Record domain repository. For all other domains (DI, Drug, Lab, Public Health), this process assumes the data has been created in an external repository and will only create EHR Index entry for this event.
