Business Process Implications
In most current POS systems, the identifier of the patient is assigned by the provider organization. A person may consider a specific clinician to be their primary provider but unless a business process is established to explicitly register people to specific clinicians, the identifier is likely to remain an organizational one.
Implementation Implications
Retrieval by specific patient identifiers will return all encounters at an organizational level, unless filtered by the specific responsible clinician.
