Definition

A named competency of the Entity playing the Role as identified, defined, guaranteed, or acknowledged by the Entity that scopes the Role. A role is a name assigned to a group of responsibilities where a responsibility is the obligation to act or make a decision. Some roles may have time and event restrictions and prerequisites before an Entity is permitted to act.

Role: A general role that is a place holder for any of the more specific roles that can be specified using the structural codes to identify any one of a hierarchy. Used to provide a flexible structure that is expected to be more specific in an instance.
